Summer Shandy

Wednesday, November 15, kicks off the first of six days of NCHA Futurity Open first go-round competition with an impressive draw, including the high-selling mare, Summer Shandy, and the high-selling colt, Rey Luis, from the 2016 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale.

Summer Shandy, a Metallic Cat daughter out of Pippis Longstocking, by Dual Smart Rey, was consigned to the 2016 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale by Dry Creek Ranch and purchased for $375,000 by Rocking P Ranch. The price was the third-highest from all sessions of the 2016 NCHA Futurity Sales, topped only by 9-year-old That Sly Cat daughter Sly Playgirl, purchased for $800,000 by Gary Rosenbach, and 15-year-old stallion Spots Hot, purchased for $550,000 by Rocking P Ranch.

Rey Luis, a Dual Smart Rey son out of Sly Playgirl, was consigned to the 2016 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale by Crown Ranch and purchased for $172,000 by Daniel Burkes. His dam, Sly Playgirl, the 2016 NCHA Futurity Sales high-seller at $800,000, has two yearlings in the 2017 NCHA Futurity Preferred Breeders Sales I and III, both consigned by Rocking L Cutting Horses.

Also included in Western Bloodstock’s 2017 NCHA Futurity Sales, December 5 through 10, at Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, is High Brow Royale, a full brother to Sir Long Legs LTE $271,872, Reserve Open Champion of the 2016 NCHA Futurity and the 2017 leading NCHA 4-year-old career earner. Consigned by Jerry and Kathy Erwin, High Brow Royale, by High Brow Cat and out of Lil Lena Long Legs, sells on Tuesday, December 5, in the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale.

Hashtags LTE $255,239, NCHA’s leading 4-year-old money earner in 2017, with $178,903, as well as second-ranked among 2017 NCHA 4-year-old career earners, has a yearling full brother, Catty Tag, selling in the Preferred Breeders Sale Session II, on Friday, December 8. While Second Spot LTE $245,874, Open Champion of the 2016 NCHA Futurity and third-ranked among 2017 NCHA 4-year-old career earners, has a yearling half-brother, Smoothe Shine, by Smooth As A Cat, consigned to the Preferred Breeders Sale Session III., on Saturday.
