New Youth Programs
NATIONAL CUTTING HORSE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH COMPETITORS
FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) is proud to announce two new programs beginning in June 2021 for the National Youth Cutting Horse Association (NYCHA) members.
The Student Athlete of the Quarter and Equine Athlete of the Quarter will highlight NYCHA’s extraordinary equine and student athletes.
Each quarter, NCHA will recognize and honor two Youth student athletes—one boy and one girl—and two Youth equine athletes. The awards aim to recognize impeccable sportsmanship, participation in activities both in and out of the arena, along with success in the cutting pen.
Recognition will qualify each recipient (students and riders of selected equines) for one of four $500 scholarships, which will be presented at the 2022 NYCHA Youth Week Convention Banquet. In addition, as the Equine Athlete of the Quarter official sponsor, Dennis Moreland Tack will donate custom silver headstalls to each of the equine athletes chosen.
Applications for the Student Athlete of the Quarter and Equine Athlete of the Quarter will be available online at nchacutting.com/youth in the coming weeks. Applicants must submit completed forms to the NCHA office by May 1, 2021; selections for 2021/2022 will be made for June 1, September 1, December 1 and March 1.
Winners for each quarter, along with the program sponsors, will be featured in the NYCHA Monthly Newsletter, on the NYCHA official webpage and social media, and in the Cutting Horse Chatter. Additionally, winners will be displayed on the big screen during the NCHA Foundation Youth Scholarship Cutting and NCHA Youth World Finals.
If you’re interested in being a corporate sponsor for the Student Athlete of the Quarter, please contact Mike Simmons, Director of Youth, at msimmons@nchacutting.com or 303-472-4326 for current opportunities.
