Stallion and Foal Program

The National Cutting Horse Association is proud to present the Stallion Foal Incentive Program.

The Stallion Foal Incentive Program is designed to engage and benefit cutting horses, their breeders, owners, trainers, and exhibitors alike by boosting the lucrative awards and event purse at the NCHA Super Stakes. For a horse to be eligible to compete at the NCHA Super Stakes as a 4-, 5- and 6-year-old, they must be sired by a subscribed stallion and nominated to the NCHA Stallion Foal Incentive program.

Stallion owners subscribe each foal crop year individually. Foal owners pay a one-time nomination fee for their foals sired by subscribed stallions. All funds generated through stallion subscriptions and foal nominations directly fund the NCHA Super Stakes added money and special awards. 

The program’s funds are divided into three rewarding buckets:

• Foal Awards: A percentage is distributed to the nominators of the foals who earn top placings in the 4-year-old divisions, the Derby.
• Sire Awards: A percentage is distributed to the subscribers of the stallions who sired the foals who earn top placings in the 4-year-old divisions, the Derby.
• Super Stakes Added Money: The remaining funds are added to the event purse, benefiting competitors across all divisions; 4-year-old Derby, and 5- and 6-year-old Classic.

This structure rewards every level of participation, from stallion promotion and breeding programs to foal development, showcasing the results of investing in elite performance horse bloodlines.

ALL payments received by NCHA will be assessed a Non-Refundable Transaction Fee of 3%. NCHA will waive the fee if payment is submitted by check, Wire Transfer or ACH/E-check.

Program Eligibility:

1. Stallions must be subscribed (See fees for Stallion Subscribers)
2. All foals must be nominated to be eligible to compete at the NCHA Super Stakes (See fees for Foal Nominations)
3. Subscribers and Nominators must be current NCHA members at the time of subscription/ nomination.

Fees for Stallion Subscriptions (per stallion):

A stallion subscription fee is required for each breeding year for which the stallion is being subscribed. Stallions must be subscribed by November 30th prior to the breeding year.

FIRST TIME SUBSCRIBERS: Any stallion that has never been subscribed to the program in any prior year, can be subscribed to the program for a subscription fee of $1,600 ($1,500 fee/ $100 insurance fee) so long as the nomination papers and payment are received by the deadline stated above.

Fees for Foal Nominations (per foal):

1. The sire of the foal must be subscribed at the time the foal is nominated. No foal nomination will be accepted if the sire is not subscribed at the time of the nomination application.
2. Foal nomination application and a one-time $250 nomination fee are due on or before December 31st of the foals' weanling year. (Other fees could apply)

FEE ALLOCATION: Fees collected will be used for the selected NCHA Triple Crown Events added money for the show associated with the breeding crop's 4-year-old-year
